Property Maintenance When It’s Freezing

December 11, 2019

Winter Property Maintenance Tips

If you’re like many homeowners, the winter has you traditionally bogged down in your home, patiently waiting for the passing of cold temperatures so you can enjoy the outdoors at home and become less of a homebody. Unfortunately, when snow and sub-freezing temperatures are around, that becomes a little less easy, and it’s hard to get productive. However, below are a few things you might be able to do around the house during winter that can begin saving you a little time when the warmer temperature finally hits.

Land Clearing

Though we’ve had a mild winter without too much snow thus far, it doesn’t mean that we won’t eventually deal with an onslaught of white powder at some point. When this happens and the storm is over, consider getting outside and trying to clear some of the snow from your grass and from around the property line. This might help you when things do warm up from having to deal with excess water and a difficult traveling path to the backyard.

Shrub Trimming

Believe it or not, the winter months allow you to get a bit of a better grip on where your shrubs and trees lie for the upcoming year. When things hang too far outward or get in the way, it can be difficult to properly trim them. Making sure they’re in a good spot by trimming them to anticipate where they’ll initially grow gives you a better idea of where to place other plants and perennials and how you can maximize space in your yard this winter.

Planning For The Future

If you’re unable to conduct your own maintenance during the winter, the next best thing to do is plan to have someone come by and do it as soon as they’re available, and it makes sense. By planning for a team to come out, you get a jumpstart on your property during the winter and can reap the rewards as soon as it’s warm enough to kick back and enjoy your view.
