How to Keep Warm Outside This Fall

September 30, 2020

Outdoor living doesn’t have to stop just yet! Fall has arrived, meaning the days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting chillier. There’s so much to enjoy outside this time of year from the changing leaves, Halloween festivities, apple picking, and watching nature prepare for winter. There’s also still plenty of time to enjoy your patio or outdoor space, even during the evenings when the temperatures are colder.

Here are some tips to help you enjoy outdoor living this fall:

Layers

Wearing layers is what fall and winter are all about! Layering clothes is the best way to help keep your body’s temperature comfortable since you can easily add or remove layers to maintain your ideal temperature. The heat will be captured in between the layers you wear and will for sure keep you nice and toasty.

Keep Your Extremities Warm

Your extremities, such as your hands, feet, neck, and head, let off the most heat in the body, so when thinking about staying warm, it’s best to consider covering up those areas first. Make sure to have thick socks, gloves, hats, and scarves ready for fall and winter.

Keep Blankets Handy

Who doesn’t love a cozy blanket? Keep some warm ones handy to grab when you’re feeling a chill coming on while sitting outside. Blankets are a quick, easy, and comfy way to add an extra layer of warmth.

Move Around

Stay active and keep your body moving. Just because the temperature has dropped doesn’t mean you have to stop being active outside. If you start to feel a chill, get up, and move around.

Drink a Warm Beverage

Nothing beats a nice cup of hot chocolate when the temperatures drop! Or maybe you prefer a nice glass of hot tea, or rather you’re ready for your next cup of coffee. Whatever your beverage of choice is, having a nice, hot drink will help keep your insides happy and warm while outside in the cold.

Add a Fire Pit to Your Outdoor Space

You can’t go wrong by sitting around a fire with friends or family this time of year! Gathering around a fire will, for sure, keep your outdoor space feeling nice and cozy. Fire features are great focal points and add beauty to your landscape. They’ll keep you warm when you need and are perfect for roasting marshmallows!
