Top Vegetables to Add to Your Garden
June 9, 2020
Growing a successful vegetable garden is a great accomplishment! As well, tending to a garden can be a great outdoor activity during the warmer months for just you or with the whole family. Not to mention, all your hard work will pay off when you have access to fresh vegetables right in your backyard!
While the reward is enticing, there is a great deal of work and planning that goes into a successful vegetable garden, especially since certain vegetables have different needs for growth. So, if you’re taking this month to start your own garden, here are a few vegetables to consider:
Root Vegetables
There are so many kinds of root vegetables you’ll want to plant this summer season. Carrots, beets, parsnips, and other root vegetables will all grow best when planted in June. The soil temperature is just right for these vegetables to flourish and not to mention, the endless meal opportunities you’ll have too.
Hardy Greens
Various hardy green vegetables such as kale, lettuce, and chard are best planted early on in the warmer months making June ideally the last month they should be planted. No garden is complete without some delicious greens that can be used in so many of your summer dishes.
Other Vegetables
To keep the good growing going, other vegetables that are great to plant in June are squash, zucchini, cucumbers, and beans. These vegetables can also handle higher temperatures, making them perfect for planting all summer long.
In just a couple of weeks, you’ll be ready to harvest all the fresh vegetables you’ve grown and get to the best part; eating!
