During the spring months, it seems as if it rains twice as much as usual — but sometimes that’s a good thing!
After the cold months of the winter, your plants and lawn need the water in order to prosper.
But there have to be other uses for rainwater, right?
Check out a few of the lesser-known uses here.
A Free Shower
No, seriously! Collecting your rainwater in a barrel can provide you with enough water to bathe if needed! Think about this: You come home from the beach, out of the pool, or a quick run, and you’re dirty. Why waste water? Install a portable shower near the barrel and use batteries to power it! They’re very inexpensive and can save you a few gallons — especially if you’re just rinsing off!
Washing the Car
As soon as it rains, your brand new wash and wax is almost pointless — but harnessing the water for future washes helps! Transfer some of this water into a smaller bucket and add some soap. On your next warm day, you’ll be able to wash the car without having to use water from the hose. Additionally, rainwater is typically ‘softer’ than tap water, making it less damaging to your car and the finish!
Watering your Garden
Let’s say there’s going to be a dry spell in your area for a while — you’ll want to keep your plants alive, right? Sometimes, you need extra water. A rain barrel won’t allow the water to escape, and it’ll be good for future use. Just like your vehicles, it’s also better for your plants. This gives you the opportunity to use water when you really need it, without having to break the bank!
