Is your swimming pool over eight years old?
It might be time to replace your swimming pool liner. Vinyl pool liners can last anywhere from eight to 12 years with proper maintenance and care.
If your pool is several years old, keep an eye out for the telltale signs that it’s time to replace your swimming pool liner.
Signs Your Liner Needs Replacement:
- You Notice Cracks & Deterioration – Vinyl pool liners are constantly in contact with pool chemicals and harsh sun rays. This can cause your liner to deteriorate over time! Check your pool for cracks, tears, and leaks. If you notice that the water line drops more than an inch a week, you probably have at least one leak in your pool liner.
- The Liner is Fading or Stained – The same pool chemicals and ultraviolet rays that can cause cracks in your liner will also fade the liner over time. If you notice significant fading of the pool liner color, this is a sign of deterioration.
- The Water Line Drops – If you notice that you need to constantly fill up the pool with water from week to week, you might have more than a leak. Pool liners lose resiliency with age. While some leaks can be patched, this can also be a sign that it’s time to replace your liner.
