With the holiday season rapidly approaching, we’re getting to the point where it’s time to dress up our houses in order to sport the look of the coming events.
From lights to full-yard decorations, there are a ton of different ways to make your home stand out on the block.
Traditionally, the normal additions are great, but why not try something new this year? See below what you can do.
- Using an old tire and a round piece of cardboard, you can cut the cardboard to fit the hole of the tire (we suggest a bit larger) and glue it to the tire. From here, spray paint it a bright color and then use a stencil to spray a design on the cardboard and a small tin bucket on top. Now you have oversized ornaments in the yard!
- With paper mache, you can create faux snowballs and throw them in a basket for the porch. Once you’ve molded the shape, let it dry and spray them white (sparkles optional). Place them in a wire basket and advertise snowballs for $1 a piece! It’s a great way to accent your front steps.
- Antique collectibles really bring the nostalgia in for any age. With an old sled and a few additions such as a custom wintery welcome sign, the front of your home can appear to jump right out from a traditional winter home from previous decades!
- A custom ‘JOY’ sign is a great way to show off your wreath during the holidays. Pick up a J and Y from your local craft store and paint them whatever color you’d like. Hanging them in vertical orientations from your door is a great way to spell out the word, or they can be hung above the door, or placed on the porch. The opportunities are endless.
In addition to a decorated landscape this season, it’s important to keep it in tip-top shape before the elements take over.
